Lk 23:39-43

39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” 40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Arguably, one of the greatest passages in the Bible; spoken at the very pinnacle of history.  In these words lie the hope of every true follower of Jesus and the secret of what will happen after I die.  Or maybe I should say after my body dies because for a Christian, as this pas How To Get Your Ex Boyfriend Back sage clearly shows,  death is just the beginning.

The faith of the ‘other’ criminal is so clear.  He stood up for Jesus to his ‘friend’ – the abusive criminal.  He acknowledged his own sin and the consequences he rightly deserved.  And, helpless, he asked Jesus to intervene into his hopeless eternity.

Then came the four most amazing truths anyone could ever hear – spoken by Jesus, himself suffering the most agonising death…

1.  What I’m about to tell you is the truth

2.  This very day
3.  You will be with Me
4.  In paradise

There’s really only 2 choices when it comes to Jesus.  Will I choose to be the ‘abusive criminal’ and die or will I choose to the ‘helpless criminal’ and live?  I’m guilty either way – I need a Saviour.

Jesus, I’m sorry for all the stuff that I have done in my life that I know was wrong.   Thank you for dying in my place, for my sins, to save my life.  Please let me be one of your followers like the ‘helpless criminal’ who died next to You but who is with You right now in paradise.
