James 5:19-20

19 My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

In the book of James, James (Jesus’ brother) is writing to the Jewish Christians.

He calls these Jewish Christians ‘scattered among the nations’ his brothers and sisters in Christ. We as a worldwide church of believers are encouraged to treat one another as brothers and sisters. We should be looking after each other, encouraging and speaking up for each other all over the world. Helping each other as we become His disciples.

This passage refers to those who have walked away from the faith – wandered away from The Truth. He encourages us to seek out those who have walked away and re-establish them in faith. This is talking about the backsliders!! We need to be in touch and walk with these people to encourage them back into faith so their eternal salvation is intact. James says we can lose our salvation which leads to death.

It made me ask about WHO in my world is now not walking with The Lord?

HOW can I re-establish them in my world?

Commit myself to PRAY for them?

WHAT am I doing to re-engage with them and encourage them back into faith in Jesus Christ?

Lord I lift to you ………………………, Father God you love these people show me how I can become an influence back in their world. Help me to arrange ways to reconnect with them and lead them back into faith in you.
