Hebrews 2:10-13
10 God has made everything. He has acted in exactly the right way. He is bringing his many sons and daughters to share in his glory. To do so, he has made the One who saved them perfect because of his sufferings. 11 The One who makes people holy and the people he makes holy belong to the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters. 12 He says, “I will announce your name to my brothers and sisters. I will sing your praises among those who worship you.” (Psalm 22:22) 13 Again he says, “I will put my trust in him.” (Isaiah 8:17) And again he says, “Here I am. Here are the children God has given me.” (Isaiah 8:18)
What a great concept we see in these words. Behind the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ is the heart of a Father who longs to bring ‘many sons to glory”. Because of His compassionate love for us He planned to establish a perfect man through the suffering of Jesus on the Cross. Only through experiencing agony and humiliation on the Cross could God’s purpose of salvation for all men be accomplished. There was no other way! Those who follow Jesus now live in that new world as they walk in the footsteps of him who has gone before, restoring the original purpose of man’s role in creation.
That’s not all! Just think of it – the Creator and Sustainer of all creation has adopted us into His family by faith in Jesus Christ. Not a day goes by that I don’t marvel at this amazing fact. I’m the daughter of the Most High God! A princess in God’s kingdom!
Lord please help me live with this confidence by the power of the Holy Spirit that lives in me. Daily knowing who I am and who it is that loves me unconditionally.
