12 The word of God is living and active. It is sharper than any sword that has two edges. It cuts deep enough to separate soul from spirit. It can separate joints from bones. It judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart. 13 Nothing God created is hidden from him. His eyes see everything. He will hold us accountable for everything we do.
The author said there is a “Sabbath-rest for the people of God”. And we have to “make every effort to enter that rest”. Then He declares that God’s word (logos) can penetrate every single thing and we can’t hide ourselves from the word (logos) of God.
But, the question is how, how can I get into His Rest? What should I do? Who can get into God’s Rest? The answer is: Faith. Combine God’s words with our Faith which means believe what God said (there is a Sabbath-rest for the people of God). Because God’s word is super powerful, can penetrate our soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it can judge the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. So, we cannot hide ourselves from God. We cannot make any excuse.
The challenge of this passage to me is:
- Do I truly believe God’s Word can lead me into God’s Rest?
- Do I love God’s Word and spend some time in reading God’s Word every-day?
- Do I truly believe that I am naked, uncovered, laid bare before the eyes of Him?
Dear Lord, thank you for your word. Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Your word helps me to see the inside of myself more clearly. Help me to surrender to you and believe what you said. Because I cannot hide from You. Amen.
