1 Peter 2:1-3

2 So get rid of every kind of evil. Stop telling lies. Don’t pretend to be something you are not. Stop wanting what others have. Don’t speak against each other. 2 Like babies that were just born, you should long for the pure milk of God’s word. It will help you grow up as believers. 3 You can do it now that you have tasted how good the Lord is.

I have been thinking on this passage for a while now – thinking about this list of things that Peter is wanting me to rid from my life; Malice, pretense, envy (read jealously) & hurtful talk/slander. Then it occurred to me, that it’s not a list of “don’ts” but rather it’s all the same message of love and relationship with others.

How can I be in good relationship with anyone if I have any of these characteristics in my life? How on earth can I show love to anyone if any of these things are operation in my life?

Yet again Father, I am undone by your Word and I see your heart revealed both for us and to us – Living in a relationship of love and kindness is so much better for me than the negativity of these other things. Father forgive me for falling so far short lately, Holy Spirit come and transform my heart. Amen.
