1 Peter 4:7-11
7 The end of all things is near. So keep a clear mind. Control yourselves. Then you can pray. 8 Most of all, love one another deeply. Love erases many sins by forgiving them. 9 Welcome others into your homes without complaining. 10 God’s gifts of grace come in many forms. Each of you has received a gift in order to serve others. You should use it faithfully. 11 If you speak, you should do it like one speaking God’s very words. If you serve, you should do it with the strength God provides. Then in all things God will be praised through Jesus Christ. Give him the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
I’ve been wondering what is on my “bucket list”? What are the things I really want to do before I die? I few fleeting, selfish thoughts come to mind – own a Gretsch guitar, ride a Harley on Route 66.
Peter had some other ideas. V7 he says “the end of the world is coming” and because of that he suggests-
Pray earnestly
Love deeply
Open your home to others
Use the gifts God has given you
Does everything I do bring glory to God (v11) or am I living selfishly?
Thank you Lord for Peter’s “bucket list”. May my life’s goals be the same. To pray earnestly, love deeply, open my home and use the gifts you’ve given me. And in all areas of my life may You be glorified. Amen
