Luke 9:7-9
7 Now Herod the ruler heard about all that had taken place, and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had been raised from the dead, 8 by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the ancient prophets had arisen. 9 Herod said, “John I beheaded; but who is this about whom I hear such things?” And he tried to see him.
Jesus and what his disciples were doing were the talk of the town. We see that Jesus had a gained a reputation. However, there was much confusion as to exactly who Jesus was, leading Herod to seek out Jesus for himself.
Today people are still confused as to who Jesus was. Was he a just a good man, a teacher, a faith healer, Jewish historical figure or saviour? Unlike Herod, those around us can’t physically seek Jesus out because he is no longer with us. Today it is our lives that answer who Jesus is to those around us. This is both challenging and exciting! I am encouraged to know Jesus better so my life can answer the question of who Jesus is more fully.
Dear Lord help me live my life in such a way as to cause those around me to truly wonder who Jesus was and is and to seek Him out for themselves. Help me to point them to Jesus the Saviour. Amen
