Ephesians 3:1-6

3 I, Paul, am a prisoner because of Christ Jesus. I am in prison because of my work among you who are Gentiles. 2 I am sure you have heard that God appointed me to share his grace with you. 3 I’m talking about the mystery God showed me. I have already written a little about it. 4 By reading about this mystery, you will be able to understand what I know. You will know about the mystery of Christ. 5 The mystery was not made known to people of other times. But now the Holy Spirit has made this mystery known to God’s holy apostles and prophets. 6 Here is the mystery. Because of the good news, God’s promises are for Gentiles as well as for Jews. Both groups are parts of one body. They share in the promise. It belongs to them because they belong to Christ Jesus.

I love a good mystery. A book or a movie, where the plot line takes a dramatic turn and heads in a completely different direction. I love talking about it afterwards with friends and family -“did you see that coming? I did not see that coming”

Paul had a mystery here in Ephesians 3. It was something very few people saw coming. When it did come it was so “out there” that the powers that be at the time couldn’t accept it. It was God himself in the form of a man coming to earth to pay for my separation and sin with His own blood. It was a rescue mission, but not just for the Jews – it was for all people everywhere. Now all people can belong to God’s family. Now all people can receive the riches He intends to pass on to His kids. Now all people can taste the promised blessings. V6. It’s all a gift waiting for us and it’s possible only through Jesus.

Lord Jesus thank you for making the way to know God and be right with Him; to belong to Gods family and receive his blessings! Amen
