Day 13 (7 Mar 2020) – Worship that pleases God

Mark 12:30 (NIV)

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

Am I loving God in my everyday life? Am I actively looking for a variety of ways to express my love towards God?

To draw upon some ideas from the 5 Love Languages, am I spending quality time with Him? Am I giving God gifts? Am I affirming Him with my words? And am I serving Him?

For me, I need to stop and remember who God is and why He is loveable… Why did I say yes to following Him in the first place? What is attractive and admirable about God? What is it about God that makes Him so distinct from everyone else? What is it about God that takes my breath away?

Father, you know that I’m practical and that I enjoy serving you by doing. Please help me to cultivate a fresh sense of loving you in words and time and gifts… like the woman who poured out the expensive perfume on Jesus’ feet, may I be extravagant in giving of myself to you. Help me to see that it is never a waste, but that it is appropriate and valuable to you. Holy Spirit, help me to make room in the day, to make room in the moments, to be preoccupied (absorbed, lost in, fascinated, engaged) by you. Amen.

Such a solid post! I love the practicality of the five love languages, and your questions are so thought-provoking. “Why did I say yes to following Him in the first place” is such a powerful question!

Thanks Beth for this revelation. It’s good to ponder on how ‘extravagant’ I am towards God? Is it more or less for what I do for my family & friends?
