Titus 2:6-10

6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. 9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.

When I was a 1st year apprentice my instructor said “the Qantas Jet base has eyes – they see everything”. Paul is saying something similar to Titus – let everything you DO reflect your TEACHING, because people are watching. This is not about practicing what we preach, this is preaching what we practice. This is where Paul gets real – don’t back-chat, don’t steal anything, be entirely trustworthy and good. Why? Not to show everyone how good I am, but how beautiful Jesus is and “the beautiful teachings of God our Saviour” (v10 The Passion Translation).

Lord, please help me live mindful that the world is watching. May they see in me how beautiful You are.

Amen
