1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)

casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

This verse seems almost too simple, and yet hugely challenging. Do I really believe that God cares for me? It sometimes doesn’t feel like it, like when the weight of my cares seem to out outweigh my confidence in God’s love for me. When my cares are great it’s too easy to look at how how I think God is blessing others but has maybe overlooked me. But God’s love is unique and unlimited- it’s not like there is only so much to go around and will then run out. This verse is ultimately about the most intimate relationship you or I will ever have. Just me and God, just you and God. I know He loves you. He is standing right beside you wanting to share ALL ( not some or most) your cares/worries/burdens. Just you and God- let’s give it all today.

Heavenly Father thank you that no matter how or what I feel you are right here beside me. Help me to be brave and let you into all parts of my life. Thank you that you love me so much. Thank you that you will not reject me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

Many years ago, I heard a preacher say that this scripture had two meanings. Firstly God cares for us, in the sense that he loves us and has compassion on us. But secondly, that God cares “on our behalf”. That is, he takes action on our behalf.. He injects himself into our situation. This has always helped me to trust him in difficult situations.
