Transforming thoughts and actions through God
Philippians 4:8-9
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
Paul offers us a way to orientate our thoughts and actions to live out what it truly means to be worshipping a God of peace. He urges us to reflect on the things that are ultimately characteristic of God: true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy.
This is not merely a mental exercise, but a transformative process that shapes our hearts and lives. By examining our thoughts, living it out and seeking God’s peace, we are able to draw closer to our God and live spiritually flourishing lives.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to fix our hearts on You, Lord. May our minds be centred on Your goodness and truth. Help us to live and act in ways that align with You. We pray Your peace dwells deep in our hearts and minds.
In Your precious name, Jesus. Amen
