Obedience matters
Ephesians 5:15-20
15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. 18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, 19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Obedience is critical in our Christian journey. Paul is encouraging the Ephesian Church to not be foolish, but make the most of every opportunity, to think, to understand and to be obedient.
“understand what the Lord wants you to do”
We are all needed in the Kingdom of God. Life is not about living for ourselves or making “our own kingdoms”. It is about sharing faith in Christ, building up people to know and understand the Gospel of Jesus, and teaching people how to learn how to live in His ways.
One day we will all stand before Jesus and give an account of our lives.
Francis of Assisi once said:
“Preach the Gospel at all times. Use words if necessary.”
“The deeds you do may be the only sermon some persons will hear today.”
Lord make our lives a living testimony of your goodness and grace. Make us look different to world by our love, words, actions and kindness. May people see Jesus in us. In your name we pray, Amen.
