No room for doubt
1 Corinthians 15:3-8
3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. 5 He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. 6 After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. 7 Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.
In our competing world for truth Paul lays out the reality of Jesus resurrection. This truth being just as important now as it was when Paul wrote. Verses 3 and 4 are the basis of our faith specifically Jesus’ resurrection where Paul verifies that Jesus appeared to more than 500 people.
We are approaching the Christmas period, though sadly it has become distorted to a commercial holiday celebration rather than remembering the truth of the birth of Jesus our saviour. God who came and died for our sin. Paul emphatically tells the Corinthians not to accept any other truth for salvation.
So as we come to this season of Christmas, let’s remember the truth behind the celebrations and the reality of not only his birth but his death and resurrection for us. Amen!
