What am I missing?

Mark 10:32-34

32 They were on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way, and the disciples were astonished, while those who followed were afraid. Again he took the Twelve aside and told them what was going to happen to him. 33 “We are going up to Jerusalem,” he said, “and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles, 34 who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later he will rise.”

This is now the third time Jesus has predicted his death and resurrection – and in vivid detail. I am stunned that the disciples didn’t believe that Jesus was alive and resurrected, even after Jesus had so emphatically and graphically warned them what would happen (see Luke 24:11).

They heard it – but didn’t believe it. They heard Jesus say it – but they didn’t understand it.

What promises of God have I heard, yet I’m still refusing to believe? What promise am I still failing to understand?

Is it –
“I will never leave you”? (See John 14:18)
“I will provide for you”? (See Matthew 6:25-26)
“I will guide you?” (See Isaiah 57:18)

I feel it’s time to take Jesus at his work. He said it, I believe it – that settles it!

Lord, You rebuked your disciples for their lack of faith. Please help me do better and take you at your word.

Amen
