Our Inheritance

1 Peter 1:22-2:3

22 You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.

23 For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. 24 As the Scriptures say,

“People are like grass;
their beauty is like a flower in the field.
The grass withers and the flower fades.
25 But the word of the Lord remains forever.”

And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.

2:1 So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. 2 Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, 3 now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.

So often I can get annoyed, vocal and very frustrated with the way things are.  From Government to individuals, choices and habits, deception vs truth, etc. …

The world can be so frustrating and yet I read how Jesus in the midst of Roman Occupation under Caesar just focussed on His job here on earth.  He was focussed on connecting with people and revealing who God is.  He went about revealing a personal God to them in practical and individual ways.  He wasn’t trying to change the Government, He was endeavouring to change the heart of a person, one by one …  Lighting a fire in their hearts and questions in their minds.

That is our job, our inheritance to be given away.  As God reveals Himself to us in various and deeper ways, He brings freedom into our lives.  Our job is to reveal Him others.

Jesus’s final command was Matthew 28:

18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Lord Jesus, I long for my family and friends to come to know you.  Help me, to have the right words, the right actions to reveal Jesus in a deeper way to them.  Lord, I want to be used by you.  Help me I pray.  In Jesus name, Amen.
